OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Coronation Street’ star Charlie Lawson has been left heartbroken after his beloved pet dog died on Monday (17.05.21).
The 61-year-old actor – famous for playing Jim McDonald, the ex-husband of Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) – feels as though he has lost a “brother” after his canine friend Rex passed away in his arms.
In an emotional Twitter post – which was accompanied by a photo of the chocolate coloured labrador – he wrote: “My heart is busted. Rex died in my arms yesterday morning. To all folk out there going through losing a brother, for that’s what he was, smile soon. xxx”
Charlie reminisced about all the good times he and Rex shared together, adding: “We shared many’s a winter’s field sports together, many’s pub fire and a barrel of laughs!
“He worked and walked a long way and then he loved the warm sofa!
Charlie was comforted on his loss by ex-‘Emmerdale’ actor John Bowe who tweeted him to say: “Sorry Charlie. I had a ‘Rex’ once too. Tyrannosaurus Rex, Sandylands Lab. Fond memories. Take care. J. (sic)”
Charlie acknowledged the message by replying, “cheers John”.
