OHMYGOSSIP — Denise Welch was left terrified when an alleged stalker appeared at her home.
The 62-year-old actress was in bed with her husband Lincoln Townley when the frightening incident occurred and police were called out to arrest the man.
Denise – who lives in in Wilmslow, Cheshire – said: “It was terrifying but we can’t talk about it for legal reasons.”
The TV star and her husband – who tied the knot in 2013 – were both left feeling “shaken” by the incident.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Denise and Townley were left really shaken by what happened. They started getting unwanted attention which culminated in a man armed with a knife being outside their property.”
It’s been confirmed that a 53-year-old man had been charged with stalking, having a knife in a public place, arson and criminal damage. He is set to appear in court later in the year.
Meanwhile, Denise recently revealed people “nearly faint” when they see her.
The soap star suggested that people react strangely around her because she is the mother of Matty Healy, the lead singer of band The 1975.
Denise – who had Matty, 32, with her former husband Tim Healy – said: “If people see me in the street, they have a reaction as if I’m their friend.
“But if they see me at a 1975 concert, they nearly faint, because they feel that they’re one step close to Matthew. It’s hilarious!”
The celebrity duo also have another son called Louis – who recently appeared in ‘Emmerdale’ – but Denise says that she’s never thrust her children into the spotlight.
She explained: “Both my kids have grown up with parents who are actors, so the great thing is that being famous was never an ambition for them.
“These days, so many people think being famous is a career, and then it hits them in the face when they realise that without any talent to back it up, it’s nothing.
“My kids have seen the dark side to this business. Matthew wanted to be the best musician he could be. Louis wants to be an incredible actor.”
