OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ foreshadowed Kush Kazemi’s death over the festive period.
An eagle-eyed fan of the BBC One soap has spotted there was a huge hint about the market trader’s passing at Christmas, only for Kush – who was played by Davood Ghadami – to be killed on Monday night’s (19.04.21) episode when Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) pushed him in front of a Tube train.
In December, Kush joined the Slater family for Christmas dinner, and one fan pointed out there was 13 people at the table, which is a Biblical superstition in that the first person to stand up will die.
A Walford Web user wrote: “There’s a superstition about that, whoever stands up first, dies next.
“I think it’s a superstitious Biblical throwback. (Jesus and the 12 disciples, homeboy was the first to stand up and make a speech and next thing you know he’s being crucified).
“Kush was the only standee… if he ends up dying then we’ll know they’ve possibly factored that in (unless it was a very strange coincidence)! (sic)”
Another user suggested the Christmas scene may have been a nod to the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise.
They wrote: “Twelve were seated at the table during Christmas, and Dumbledore rose to greet Professor Trelawney.
“However, Trelawney refused to join the group as her addition would make thirteen and the superstition was that the first of them to rise would be the first to die.
“Unbeknownst to everyone there had been thirteen people already at the table (as Wormtail was disguised as Ron’s pet rat which was in his pocket) and sure enough Dumbledore was the first to die. (sic)”
It comes as a number of ‘EastEnders’ fans have hit out at Kush’s death.
Some viewers believe turning Gray into a serial killer has “tarnished” his previous domestic abuse storyline, which resulted in him murdering his wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer).
One wrote: “Kush could have left by other means but I believe as a long time fan and viewer of EastEnders,Gray being a serial killer has tarnished the domestic violence storyline with Chantelle (sic)”
Another posted: “Kush is one of the best male characters at the moment and did not deserve that. It’s so disrespectful to the domestic abuse story by turning Gray into a serial killer. Also, the stupid music completely ruined the scene! (sic)”
One shared: “What the hell man #eastenders why kill of Kush and you have Totally undone the great work you did with Grey and Chantelle and domestic abuse by making him a serial killer (sic)”
However, some have defended the storyline by looking at the storytelling his passing will generate.
They wrote: “I’m gutted Kush was killed and I don’t particularly like that they’ve made Gray a serial killer, taking away from the domestic abuse sl – however I do think that in the context of storytelling, the aftermath is what the pay off is. The consequences for Whit, the Mitchells etc (sic)”
Following Chantelle’s death, Gray later bumped off Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White), and after ensuring his third victim Kush met his maker he is now a serial killer.
