OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles’ ‘DIY SOS’ future is reportedly unclear after he signed a deal with Channel 5.
The hit BBC show has been on air with the 58-year-old presenter – whose exclusive deal with the broadcaster has expired – at the helm since 1999, but there is no confirmation of a new series.
Nick is now lined up to host both ‘Your Life On Your Lawn’ – which will help families declutter – and ‘Home Improvements’ on Channel 5.
The latter will see him maximise a property’s potential.
In a statement, he said: “I’m excited to be working with Channel 5 on these new programmes.
“They have been channel of the year for two years and are making such good shows currently, it was a no brainer to join in.”
There is no set return for ‘DIY SOS’, with the BBC still to announce any details.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “‘DIY SOS’ has been a staple for years, so to see it not being prioritised is a bit strange.
“The pandemic has not helped with delays. There appears to be no firm plan as to when it will return.”
Meanwhile, a BBC spokeswoman confirmed Nick was “not exclusive” to the network, and is able to take on a range of projects.
She explained: “Nick is not exclusive to the BBC and like many presenters, he is working across a range of services.”
Nick previously admitted he piled on the pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic, but insisted that comments about his weight gain don’t bother him.
Late last year, he said: “I put on a lot of weight during the first lockdown.
“I couldn’t do any training, I was doing a lot of writing, a lot of banana bread and I grew a big beard and stayed in and I wrote a lot.”
