OHMYGOSSIP — Claire King has been washing up in a bucket for three weeks because her house currently has no kitchen.
The ‘Emmerdale’ star has had the “joyous” task of washing her dishes in a bucket of water in recent weeks because her kitchen is currently out of action while it’s being refurbished.
But the job has given Claire something else to do in lockdown, as she explained her other new hobbies have included painting her “whole house” and sending sweet videos to her fans.
Talking about her experience in lockdown, she said: “I’ve been doing loads of little videos for friends, and fans who were just feeling a little down and lonely and just wanted birthday messages or messages to family and things like that.
“I painted the whole house – apart from the kitchen. That was in lockdown one. Lockdown three, we’re actually doing the kitchen at the moment, so I haven’t got a cooker or a sink. So I’ve been washing up in a bucket for the last three weeks, it’s joyous! Absolutely joyous. As well as learning all these lines and things.
“I’ve done all the garden. I have tomato plants absolutely everywhere. So yeah, I’ve just kept busy. And I think that’s one of the keys to it, just try and keep busy.”
Claire is back on the set of ‘Emmerdale’ after having been “written out” of the ITV soap for three months after she was forced to shield amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
And the actress – who plays Kim Tate – has said she hated being away from work.
She added: “I was actually written out. We had the normal three-month lockdown, but then I was written out for another three months due to my health issues and things, my arthritis. That was really tough, because I thought ‘Oh no, I want to go back to work’. But I did manage to do an audiobook in the time.”
Claire, 58, also confessed to preferring life in the Yorkshire Dales over Weatherfield, after her stint in rival soap ‘Coronation Street’ between 2014 and 2017, where she played Erica Holroyd.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she said: “I prefer mud to cobbles, definitely.”
