OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Walsh is planning to ask her sister Kimberley Walsh for advice about giving birth when she has to act out labour scenes on ‘Emmerdale’.
The 33-year-old star’s character Tracy Metcalfe is currently pregnant, and while the actress hasn’t had a baby herself, she is going to turn to the Girls Aloud singer, who has sons Bobby, six, and Cole, three, with husband Justin Scott, and her older sibling Sally Walsh – who starred as Lyn Hutchinson in the ITV soap from 1997 to 2000 – for some words of wisdom.
She said: “I will get advice and tips from both of them, Kimberley and Sally, for the labour scene, if there is a labour scene. I’ll be really excited about it if that happens.
“It’s a chance to really do ugly, crying face acting, which I kind of enjoy. And it’s something I’ve never done, so it will be a bit more of a challenge acting-wise.
“So I do have to research, and speak to people about, and get advice from people. And who knows better than my sisters, who have kids. I’ll definitely be tapping them up for some advice on how to push.”
Amy revealed ‘Emmerdale’ stars keep thinking she is pregnant when they see her on set with a baby bump, which she thinks is a real credit to the costume department.
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on morning show ‘Lorraine’, she added: “It’s a prosthetic bump, really heavy. Most people moan about it, but I just love having something different to put on.
“Tracy’s costumes are not that exciting. I’m not one of the more wealthy characters, who gets nice, designer handbags to get excited about.
“So I choose to get excited about a fake baby bump. It’s funny because people think it’s real.
“Someone in the canteen the other day said to me, ‘I walked past the other day and thought you were really pregnant.’ I was like, ‘Good work, costume department.’
“It also keeps you warm in the cold village.”
Lorraine – who has visited Antarctica before – then joked the coldest place she has “ever been in [her] life” is the Emmerdale village.
She said: “Outside the Woolpack it is freezing!”
Amy added: “It’s like a wind tunnel. The winds are just so harsh on your face. So I’m hoping this winter the bump will keep me warm at least.”
