OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood has joked it is “probably just as well” Bruno Tonioli won’t be in the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ studio this year.
Bruno is known for his animated contestant feedback on the Latin and ballroom show, but he will only appear on the programme virtually this year because he is still in the US amid the coronavirus pandemic, and Craig joked it might be for the best because his 64-year-old co-star could be a Covid-19 “super-spreader” with all the “standing up and down” he does when delivering his score.
He quipped: “He could be a super-spreader, spitting and shouting and standing up and down.
“It’s probably just as well he’s not here.”
Instead, Bruno will appear via video link on the Sunday night results show to comment on the dance routines, as he is in Los Angeles filming ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and won’t be able to travel back and forth due to travel restrictions amid the pandemic.
The star insisted he will not act as a judge because he doesn’t think it would be fair on the dancers, as he won’t be able to see every step up close and personal.
However, Craig, 55, is delighted to be back on the show and knows how lucky he is to be a judge this year after the virus threatened to shelve the series.
He said: “I can’t wait to see the celebrities dancing and I’m lucky to have the opportunity to judge.
“Fans can watch from their living rooms but I’ll get a ringside seat, darling.”
A new set of social distancing measures have been brought in to ensure the stars don’t spread the virus, and bosses have even threatened to axe celebrities from the show if they are caught kissing each other.
And Craig hopes there are perspex screens between the judges, so he doesn’t have to interact with them.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV columnas saying: “Do I think there will be plastic screens between judges? You can only hope. I would love that.”
