OHMYGOSSIP — Want to gain more traffic? I’ll help you. There are thousands of websites and just a few which are truly loved by their readeres.. You ask why, why my page is not one of them? There are many creative ways to increase traffic to your website, some will cost you money, and some won’t — I suggest, increase your website traffic for free with love and passion!

Getting traffic is an ongoing task and you must be constantly doing it, if you want to get traffic and keep it. Here are some of the ways to get traffic for free.

RULE NR1; RULE NR2 and RULE NR3: Offer original and free quality content on your site — this is the most effective way to bild your audience. Offer people something that they cannot obtain elsewhere, or at least, not to the level of quality that you are offering it.

Ways in which to ensure that your content is of higher quality than competitors include:

♥ Creating content that is interesting, helpful and useful. Content is king! Simply cobbling together information from another website will not generate traffic. You need to offer your readers the information they need to achieve a goal, solve a problem, be entertained, find out quality news or have a good laugh. Having more content (relevant content, which is different from the content on other sites both in wording and topics) is a real boost for your site’s rankings.

♥ Content drives most traffic when you offer something useful. There are many types of useful content you can create and they largely depend on the niche of your site. You can have articles with tons of advice, or short tips but one of the most powerful ways to get traffic is to create a free product or service. When this product or service gets popular and people start visiting your site, chances are that they will visit the other sections of the site as well.

♥ Keep it fresh! For repeat visits, it is crucial to provide regular updates. Add fresh content every day. Frequent changes are favored. It is great when you constantly add new content but it is not so great when you only make small updates to existing content.

♥ Make it quick. You need to ensure that your pages load as quickly as possible. Eliminate unnecessary graphics, especially flash graphics they can be time hogs.

♥ Search engines have always been a major way to get traffic for free. That is why you need to do your homework and optimize your site so that it ranks well for the keywords you target.

♥ To have a fully functioning and successful website, you need to make sure your tags are in place and your links are not broken. You also need to submit a sitemap.xml file to Google to have your website show up in Google’s search engines. There is a tool that inspects websites just in case you missed tags and links and it creates a free sitemap.xml file. It gives you results in minutes. If the site (or separate pages) is unaccessible because of broken links, 404 errors, password-protected areas and other similar reasons, then the site simply can’t be indexed.

♥ Try to get more backlinks on your website this may help to increase the traffic. Generally the more, the better. But the reputation of the sites that link to you is more important than their number. Also important is their anchor text, is there a keyword in it, how old are they, etc.

♥ Never copy and paste from another webpage –  Yahoo, Google, Bing and other search engines are too smart for this nowadays and will detect copied and unoriginal content. Using other people’s copyrighted content without their permission or using content that promotes legal violations can get you kicked out of search engines.

♥ Improve your search engine ranking by focusing your content on keywords related to your topic. This is search engine optimization and will help people find your website when they’re searching the Web.  Keywords not only go into headings and page names but also into “meta tags”. “Meta tags” are the software code that website visitors do not see but search engines do.

♥ Get linked and exchange links (also you could trade banner ads, half page ads, classified ads, etc). This is a very important part of website management. Do not forget: Google denies that they discriminate against links that come from the same IP address or C class of addresses, so for Google the IP address can be considered neutral to the weight of inbound links. However, Bing and Yahoo! may discard links from the same IPs or IP classes, so it is always better to get links from different IPs.

♥ Make your site big and be visible! Spiders love large sites, so generally it is the bigger, the better. However, big sites become user-unfriendly and difficult to navigate, so sometimes it makes sense to separate a big site into a couple of smaller ones.

♥ Use social media. (Twitter; Facebook; Bloglist24 etc.) Post & share your content. If you are popular on networks, the traffic can easily surpass the traffic from Google and the other search engines….

♥ Let people become part of a community and they’ll promote your content for you.

♥ Advertise yourself. Write a list of all the ways to get your web address noticed and clicked on. Use all of these free techniques to increase traffic to your website: Facebook, Twitter, Bloglist24 chat rooms, forums, Youtube, Myspace, Google Groups etc.

♥ Use e-zines. Submit your articles to e-zines, websites and writing sites that accept article submissions. This is a good way to create one-way backlinks to your website.

♥ Consider starting your own online discussion community. It could be an online message board, e-mail discussion list or chat room. When people get involved in your community, they will regularly return to communicate with others. The idea of “live” information will definitely entice people to visit your website.

♥ Be patient. Success doesn’t come easy, giving up early is a sure way to fail. (Read: How to find your passion)

♥ Balance your page and keep it simple, remove all the the unnecessary visual elements.  It will make your page easier to read and items easier to find. A good object will help the objects on your page flow.

♥ OMG!!! One of the most important things —  clean backgrounds. The background textures and colour you chose have the ability to estimate the overall appeal of the website.

♥ Do everything with passion and with love! 🙂
