Helena-Reet: I know how to make the world a better place

Helena-Reet: I know how to make the world a better place

Today I have been extremely upset – thinking, crying, wondering, meanwhile angry and in great distress, praying – and all at the same time. Wondering how come has the world become such a hideous place? I don’t know the answers, but I do know how to make the world a better place.

After hearing the news about the two-year-old chinese girl Yue Yue that shook the whole world, I immediately took my car and drove to the nursery school (at speed of 10 kilometres per hour, I probably developed a driving phobia after seeing the video). I fetched my two darlings Estella Elisheva (5) and Ivanka Shoshana (3) – not because they were in any kind of danger, but because I felt so fragile. I wanted to hug and hold my children and tell them how much I loved them.

I have been thinking about it how it is possible that things like that can actually happen. It’s so hideous. I came to the conclusion that nothing of the kind would ever have happened if the parents had kept an eye on their two-year-old child that is every parent’s utmost duty. It was not like the child was out of sight for just a short moment. The little girl was alone in the street for ten minutes and her parents had to be rung up(!) in order to inform them about the accident. Usually parents are together with their children and take care of them. Nobody lets children wander alone on the road.

I did a little research. Neglected children that come from socially unstable families are more often exposed to violence, rape and severe accidents. I don’t wish to dwell on the issue of those cold-blooded drivers and people who with callous heart just passed by. This is unforgivable! People who have read the news and seen the video are probably as shocked and upset as I am. My purpose while writing this is that the appalling accident would be a lesson to the whole world and to every Mother and Father – “Don’t let your children out of sight!”.

We can’t change the world but we can change ourselves!

It’s an old truth that has been repeated hundreds of thousands of times, it even seems ridiculously “trivial” and “childish”, but so it is — the world gets better when we become better persons and start paying notice to what is happening around us. Start with your home, children, love and caring.

I wish all my readers love, tolerance, more love, a big heart and an open mind! Life is worth fighting for and it’s a fight to be won! Crying and taking the pain of the world on our shoulders just gives us grey hair (me being one of them who in cases like that just wants to melt away in sorrow).

Love and happiness to your home!
